Description

During May 7-10, 2015, Red Cat Jazz Preservation Society, Inc. will be hosting its 5th annual Red Cat Jazz Festival at Moody by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">Gardens Hotel and Spa. The theme for the festival is: “It’s Island Time,” Discovering New Territories. The 2015 festival will feature by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">the following:

· Four Days of Non-stop Live Jazz Concerts featuring a variety of local and international jazz artists, 2015 Invited guests include Grammy winner Kirk Whalum, Ronnie Laws, Rick Braun, Norman Brown, Mindi Abair, Peter White, Jazz in Pink and Mike Phillips, and a host of others.

· Opening night reception, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 7pm, A “White Tie Gala” sponsored by Galveston County Daily News and Coast Magazine. Attendees will include sponsors, VIP guest and special invited guest such as City officials and members of Galveston Chamber of Commerce. There will be an Art Exhibit and special recognition for sponsors. Entertainment will be Yvonne Washington and national recording artist Dean James.

· 1st Annual Celebrity Golf Classic with Mike Phillips, Friday, May 8, 2015 at 9am, kicks off with a golf tournament at the Moody Gardens Golf Course, with some of the Houston area’s most beloved
Sports figures are joining in. The former Municipal Golf Course underwent a $16 million renovation, creating a beautiful 18 hole seaside course through native wetland habitat.

· “VIP All White Poolside Party”, Friday, May 8, 2015 at 7pm, Attendees will wear all white attire. Guest will experience live entertainment at Moody Garden’s by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">Hotel and Spa poolside under the stars. Light hor d’ourves will be included. Many of the local and national jazz artist will be in attendance, allowing our guest an opportunity for a “meet and greet”.

· “After Party”, Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10pm,. Attendees will by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">dance the night away to live entertainment by SVK Band and music of the singing DJ, Dana Jackson of Magic 102.

· Red Cat For Pink, Women Empowerment Conference, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 7:30am, Saturday morning, Red Cat For Pink will hold a Women’s Empowerment Event hosted by Jan Pink, President of Wealthy Omnipotent Women “W.O.W”. This Mother’s day weekend event will be Chaired by former City Council, Jolanda Jones of Houston. Women will come together to be inspired, motivated, and empowered. Victoria Lowe, author of 10 Spiritual Principles of Successful Women, will take part in this event, along with Dr. Jennie Bennet, founder of Reconstruction of a Survior and host of others. The event will start with a morning workout with Yolanda of 4ever Fit, followed by an 11am brunch with keynote speakers. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be given to Reconstruction of a Survivor in honor of Red Cat for Pink. President of Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Gina M. Spagnola, will welcome the ladies to Galveston Island.

· “Students of the Sound Jazz by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">Scholarship Seminar”, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10am, an event targeted toward young musicians from local universities that have a passion for jazz. The seminar will be hosted by jazz musicians. Jazz by LuckyShopper"> by LuckyShopper" href="#">scholarships will also be presented to selected students at this event.

· A “Breakfast with the Legends Jazz Event”, Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 10am, an intimate, up-close-and-personal breakfast with festival headliners including Ronnie Laws and Tex Allen who will share their personal stories, their love for jazz, and the evolution of the of jazz in the art form. The Red Cat Jazz Legend Award will also be presented to a jazz legend at this event.
